PARKERSBURG AREA GROTTO

BY LAWS

I.       

A.   Dues shall be set by a majority vote of the Executive Committee.

B.   Special assessments for the purchase of equipment may be levied on all members upon a 2/3 favorable vote of members Present at a special meeting called for this purpose.

II.     

A.   A special Annual meeting shall be held in November of each year for the purpose of electing officers.

B.   Officers shall be elected by 2/3 favorable vote of members present at the Annual Meeting.

C.   Term of office shall be one year, and shall start on the first day of January.

D.   An officer may be removed from office by 2/3 vote of the Grotto membership. A meeting shall be called for this purpose on petition of one half of the voting membership.

III.           Members are expected to practice cave conservation and to respect the property and safety of others.

IV.   

A.   Grotto members shall be held responsible for the return, in good condition, of any Grotto equipment or the equipment of individuals which is used as Grotto equipment.

B.   A member may be assessed for the value of lost or damaged equipment upon decision of the Executive Committee.

V.    

A.   Members may be expelled for any of the reasons specified in Section XI of the Constitution and in the Bylaws of the N.S.S.

B.   Expulsion shall be by unanimous vote of the Executive Committee. 

VI.   

A.   Amendments to these Bylaws may be proposed either by the Executive Committee or by a petition of ten percent of the members in good standing.  Adoption of the amendments shall require a two-thirds vote of the members voting, either in person or by absentee ballot, provided that notice of the meeting and the content of the amendments shall have been announced to the membership at least thirty days prior to the time at which the vote will be taken.

B.   An absentee ballot must be given to the designee in writing via mail or email and presented at the meeting when the voting takes place.
